Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the quality of Qur’an learning through mentoring activities at TPQ Darut Taufiq, Sidoarjo Regency. The partner’s main problems include limited variation in learning methods, low learning motivation among some students, and the suboptimal implementation of systematic tajwid instruction. The program applied the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which actively involved Qur’an teachers, students, and TPQ administrators in the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection of mentoring activities. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and evaluation of students’ Qur’an reading abilities. The results indicate an improvement in students’ Qur’an reading skills, reflected in increased reading fluency, accuracy in applying tajwid rules, and higher participation and learning motivation during the learning process. Furthermore, the mentoring activities contributed to improving teachers’ pedagogical competence in managing more interactive and systematic learning. This program also strengthened the role of TPQ as a non-formal Islamic educational institution in fostering religious character within the community. Therefore, the PAR-based mentoring model is considered effective in improving the quality of Qur’an learning in a sustainable manner.
