Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The total length of the manuscript (excluding abstract and references) is between 6,000 and 8,000 words.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • A minimum of 25 primary references (journal articles) are cited.
  • At least 80% of the cited works are published within the last 5 to 10 years.
  • All primary references are sourced from reputable journals indexed in Sinta 1-2, Scopus or Web of Science (WoS).
  • The bibliography is managed using professional software (Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote) and matches the journal's required style (e.g., APA 7th).
  • Each reference is accompanied by an active DOI link (in URL format).
  • The similarity index is below the journal's threshold (e.g., < 15% using Turnitin) with no individual source exceeding 1-2%.

Author Guidelines - Tarunateach: Journal of Elementary School

Thank you for choosing to submit your paper to Tarunateach: Journal of Elementary School. These instructions will ensure we have everything required so your paper can move through peer review, production, and publication smoothly. Please take the time to read and follow them as closely as possible, as doing so will ensure your paper matches the journal's requirements.

Tarunateach strictly adheres to high-quality academic standards as we continuously strive for international indexation (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science) and top-tier national accreditation (Sinta 4). Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines will be returned to the authors for revision before entering the review process.

  1. General Requirements and Journal Scope
  • Scope Alignment (Critical): The manuscript must fall strictly within the scope of Basic and Primary Education (Elementary School / MI). Research encompassing broad educational levels (e.g., from elementary to university) without a specific, in-depth focus on primary education will be rejected.
  • Originality: The article must be original, unpublished, and not currently under review by another journal.
  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in standard, academic English and Bahasa Indonesia. Authors are strongly advised to have their manuscripts proofread by a professional native speaker or a reputable proofreading service before submission.
  • Plagiarism Check: All submissions will undergo a plagiarism check. The maximum allowable similarity index is 20% (excluding quotes and bibliography).
  1. Manuscript Structure and Formatting
  • Word Count: Comprehensive research articles are required. The main text (excluding abstract and references) must be between 6,000 and 8,000 words.
  • File Format: Submissions must be in Microsoft Word Document (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Template: Authors MUST use the official Tarunateach article template. Download the template here.
  • Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, 12 pt., with 1.15 line spacing.
  • Structure: The manuscript should generally follow the IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion), followed by a Conclusion and References.
  1. Specific Section Guidelines

Title Page

  • Title: Concise, informative, and specific (Max. 15 words). Avoid abbreviations and formulae.
  • Author Names & Affiliations: Full names (no academic titles), institutional affiliation (Department, University/Institution, City, Country).
  • Corresponding Author: Clearly indicate the corresponding author with an active email address and an ORCID iD (strongly recommended).

Abstract and Keywords

  • Abstract: The abstract must be structured and self-contained, comprising 150-250 words. It should clearly state the research problem/objectives, methods, main findings, and conclusions. Avoid citations in the abstract.
  • Keywords: Provide 3 to 5 keywords or phrases, separated by semicolons (;). Choose keywords that accurately reflect the paper's core content.

Introduction

  • Clearly state the background, research problem, and the theoretical framework.
  • Explicitly describe the research gap based on a review of recent literature.
  • State the specific objectives and the novelty of the study.

Methods

  • Provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be reproduced.
  • Clearly describe the research design, participants/samples, data-collection instruments, and data-analysis procedures.
  • For SLR/Bibliometric studies, clearly state the databases used, search strings, inclusion/exclusion criteria (e.g., PRISMA guidelines), and analysis tools.

Results

  • Results: Present the findings clearly and logically. Use tables and figures only when necessary to summarize data; do not duplicate data described in the text.

Discussion

  • Discussion: This is the most crucial section. Interpret the results, explain their significance, and compare them with previous literature. Discuss the theoretical and practical implications, specifically regarding primary education pedagogy or practice. Acknowledge the limitations of the study.

Conclusion

  • Summarize the main findings directly answering the research objectives.
  • Provide concrete recommendations for future research or practical applications in elementary education. Do not introduce new material in this section.

References (Strict Requirements)

To maintain the journal's scientific rigor and support international indexing metrics, we strictly enforce the following citation rules:

  • Minimum Quantity: The reference list must contain a minimum of 25 primary sources (reputable journal articles).
  • DOI Requirement: Every journal article cited MUST include an active, clickable DOI link (e.g., https://doi.org/10...).
  • Recency: At least 80% of the references must be from articles published within the last 5 to 10 years.
  • Citation Style: Use the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition style for both in-text citations and the reference list.
  • Reference Manager: Authors are required to use a reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to manage citations and generate the bibliography.

Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure you have checked the following:

In submitting the manuscript to the journal, the authors certify that:

  • They are authorized by their co-authors to enter into these arrangements.
  • The work described has not been formally published before, except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review, thesis, or overlay journal.
  • That it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere,
  • That its publication has been approved by all the author(s) and by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – of the institutes where the work has been carried out.

Authors who publish with TARUNATEACH: Journal of Elementary School agree to the following terms:

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-SA 4.0) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal. 
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.

Other data publishing licenses may be allowed as exceptions (subject to approval by the editor on a case-by-case basis) and should be justified with a written statement from the author, which will be published with the article.

 Open Data and Software Publishing and Sharing

The journal strives to maximize the replicability of the research published in it. Authors are thus required to share all data, code, or protocols underlying the research reported in their articles. Exceptions are permitted but have to be justified in a written public statement accompanying the article. Datasets and software should be deposited and permanently archived inappropriate, trusted, general, or domain-specific repositories (please consult http://service.re3data.org and/or software repositories such as GitHub, GitLab, Bioinformatics.org, or equivalent). The associated persistent identifiers (e.g. DOI, or others) of the dataset(s) must be included in the data or software resources section of the article. Reference(s) to datasets and software should also be included in the reference list of the article with DOIs (where available). Where no domain-specific data repository exists, authors should deposit their datasets in a general repository such as ZENODO, Dryad, Dataverse, or others.
Small data may also be published as data files or packages supplementary to a research article, however, the authors should prefer in all cases a deposition in data repositories.
